Dr. Don A Friedlander, BSc, DDS

Dr. Don Friedlander was born and raised in Montreal. He graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry from McGill University, and then continued on at McGill’s Faculty of Dentistry for his DDS degree. He subsequently did a surgical/prosthetic hospital residency in Montreal before coming to Ottawa to join an established practice on Elgin Street. That practice soon moved to larger premises on O’Connor Street, where we remained until November 2015. Just recently we have relocated to Lansdowne Park to better serve our patients.

Over several decades of practice, Dr. Friedlander has built a reputation as a consummate professional who combines a passion for dentistry with a commitment to providing a lifetime of dental excellence for his patients. He enjoys his profession to the fullest, having fun doing work he has a passion for, assisted by people with true talent and dedication. His passion for the profession is also evident in the fact that he is a past-president of both the Ontario Dental Association and the Canadian Dental Association.

Dr. Jelena Djokic, BSc, MSc, DDS

Dr. Djokic grew up in Ottawa and is delighted to have returned to her hometown to join Dentistry at Lansdowne.

Dr. Djokic completed a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry at the University of Ottawa (magna cum laude) and a Master's degree at McGill University (Dean's Honour List). She was awarded her DDS from Trinity College Dublin (Honours) in 2019 and subsequently completed a dental residency at the Montreal General Hospital before joining Dr. Friedlander at Dentistry at Lansdowne in the summer of 2020.

General dentistry is a natural fit for Dr. Djokic as she enjoys its variety, getting to know her patients well and helping them to maintain excellent oral health. Her gentle approach puts patients at ease and she is committed to providing patient-centred dental care. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages for a wide range of treatments.

Fluent in English and French, Dr. Djokic spends her time off with friends and family, tending to her ever-expanding plant collection and trying out new cuisines.

Charlene Code (CDA / CPDA)

Charlene is Dr. Friedlander’s preventive dental assistant. She has been a devoted member of Dr. Friedlander's team for 26 wonderful years.

Charlene has a passion for her profession. She prides herself in providing a friendly, caring, and professional environment, making sure your experience is relaxing and enjoyable. In order to provide the best care possible, she regularly participates in continuing education courses in her field. Charlene strives to not only provide our patients with excellent care, but also to educate and inform all our patients on their dental health.

In her free time, Charlene loves spending time with her family and loved ones.

Ermina Reyes (CDA / CPDA)

Ermina has been in the dental practice for 28 years: three years as a dentist in the Philippines and 25 years as a dental assistant in Canada. She obtained her certificates in Dental Office and Chairside assisting in 1994, Intra-oral Dental Assisting in 1997, and the National Board certificate in 1998 as approved by the directors of the National Dental Assisting Board.

Her love for dentistry is evident in how she assists the doctors and patients with great care and joyfulness. Ermina values teamwork, and is always happy to support her colleagues.

Ermina enjoys teaching her Sunday school class, singing, playing guitar, and biking with her husband and two lovely kids. In the summer months, she loves going camping with family and friends.

Louise Duquette (RDH)

Louise grew up in Ottawa and speaks both French and English fluently. She began her career in the dental field working alongside Dr. Friedlander as his chairside assistant. Since becoming a registered dental hygienist in 1990, she has continued to strive for excellence by attending countless continuing education courses.

Louise’s goal is to help patients obtain the best oral health possible. As a member of various professional dental associations, she stays up-to-date with the latest information and changes in the profession. She is also committed to making your dental experience a positive and comfortable one with her friendly approach. Over the years, Louise has developed strong friendships with many of her patients. As the relationship between oral and systemic health continues to be explored, Louise knows how important it is to identify risk factors and educate her patients in the prevention of oral health diseases.

Louise is the mother of two athletic teenage boys and loves spending time with her family and friends. She is a huge sports enthusiast who enjoys playing hockey and ringette, roller-skating, and skiing. She also likes biking, gardening, and watching movies.

Brenda Matys (RDH)

Brenda, a Maritimes native, moved to Ottawa in 1974. She graduated from the Algonquin College Dental Hygiene program in 1984 and has been a practicing dental hygienist ever since. She has been a member of Dr. Friedlander's team since 1985.

Brenda loves her profession and truly enjoys assisting and educating patients in all facets of oral care and wellness. Actively continuing her education through courses and conferences in the field, she prides herself on being an active member of the professional community and helping patients achieve and maintain optimum periodontal health.

When she isn’t keeping your smile immaculate, Brenda keeps herself busy with her home and family life. She enjoys travelling, running outside, and spending time with her son and daughter.

Donna Paquette (RDH / RRDH)

Donna has lived in Ottawa for most of her life. She graduated from Algonquin College’s Dental Assisting program in 1981 and immediately started working with Dr. Friedlander. She shortly returned to Algonquin to study dental hygiene and came back to Dr. Friedlander’s team as a dental hygienist in 1984. She then decided to go back to school one last time to study restorative dental hygiene, graduating in 1987 with honours, before returning to the practice, where she has been helping patients achieve excellent oral health ever since. Donna has also been a clinical instructor at Algonquin College since 1999. Her specialities include restorative dental hygiene and 29 years of paediatric dentistry.

Donna enjoys providing optimum dental care for her patients and takes pleasure in the relationships she establishes. She also enjoys life at her home in the countryside with her family and friends.
